Did you know that I can spin?! Yes, I can, I can, I can spin! It goes around & around & around - it's very soothing! BUT...... my wheel is broken. sob. It's not just any wheel, my Dad made it for my mum over 30 years ago but it's old & it's broken and he's not here to fix it. I'm also not going to let anyone else touch it as those hands touching it won't be my Dads... sob.
Anyway, the reason for the bla of a story above is because I am longing to get my own wheel - my very own wheel, brand new just for me! So I've been searching the internet & have come up with these beauties....
Now this wheel is the traditional one that most people learn on - it's easy to use but it is a big wheel & takes up a lot of room - something I that don't have.
My mum (who is a veteran spinner) recommended that I get a dual foot pedal wheel - as it works both legs out at the once (ugh, imagine years of spinning using only one leg, yep!)
Next up is this wheel, isn't it a great colour! I really love the wheel, it reminds me of a boat!
Or there is this lil beauty, I love the arty look to it.
Honestly, I am having a hard time picking my favourite out of the bottom two!
And yep, if you click on the pics or links they will take you to Amazon.com - who'd have thought that Amazon sell spinning wheels - awesome hey!!
Can you spin? Do you have a wheel? (if so, what kind?)

Great story about your wheel. What a treasure to have. My husband bought me a wheel many many years ago. I feel guilty that I never did learn how to spin very well. When I taught 4th grade I took it to school every year for the kids to give it a try. One of my good friends is an excellant spinner and even has her own sheep, etc. She encourages me, but I guess I am a "sewer" at heart. I am off to sew now while I listen to the Cardinals play. I learnt to spin on a drop spindle, but couldn't get the hang of the wheel in class. I'd love to try again though
You are amazing! Anything you don't do? Each time I get an email post you are doing something different.
I have an Ashford wheel and used to do a lot of spinning but it does take up a lot of time! Have always spun from fleece and prepared it myself. Never had to buy a fleece as my family had a Merino stud so they used to give me the coloured fleece. The property has long been sold but I still have most of a beautiful natural white Merino fleece that was from the last show exhibit from the property. My advice would be to try out the wheels at a craft centre and see which one suits you best... Happy spinning!
