I just had to tell you what about a fantastic book that I just finished! The novel is called Cross Stitch by Diana Gabaldon and it is so ace! A lovely bloggy friend recommended it to me and boy, was this book full of action, terror, drama and I had to put it down several times because the plot got so tense I was either going to cry or break into a sweat!
You can buy the book online here - I really, really recommend it and I'm off to start the next in the series now!
I also thought I'd show you another book, this time a crafty book.
This great reference book is called 400 Knitting Stitches and this was a Christmas present to myself! It has easy to follow instructions and bright clear graphics as well. I recommend you get this one for your crafty library. You can get it here online.
Also, my hubby surprised me with a great book! Surprised me, yes, because he always buys me cookbooks (whether I want them or not) for birthdays, valentines, anniversaries, Christmas etc. But this time, he actually wandered into the crafty section of the bookstore and bought me this great knitting book!
The book is called Knitknit: Profiles and Projects from Knitting's New Wave and it features modern knitters, their stories & patterns too (it's a nice read for those nightswhen I can't be bothered to knit myself!). You can grab it online here.
There is also an awful book that I want to tell you about too. I read it because there were reviews saying that one of my fav authors (Sunny) actually copied bits from this book, so of course I had to check it out myself. May I just say.... ick. I do not like dark, dark books. I do not like books where the author enjoys describing torture in minute details. I do not like books with child rape. I do not like books when there is finally a nice moment but the author brushes it away like you would an annoying insect. Nope, I did not like this book one bit. And in regards to the author Sunny copying bits from it... are you kidding? Sure some of the names are the same and even there is a faint resemblance in characters but Sunny lives up to her name and does not dwell in darkness.
This book that I don't recommend is called The Black Jewels Trilogy.
So what do you think? Have you read any of these books? Am I completely wrong about The Black Jewels Trilogy? (me thinks not!!).
Can you recommend any fab novels or crafty books?
