Love / Hate Relationship

My crochet hook hates me.

Every time I go to use the crochet hook, it is either missing or it falls off the ball of wool onto the floor.
It must see me coming and runs & hides.
And I have given up looking for it.
But my partner has taken on the duty of finding it. As soon as he hears me mumble "that damn hook", he stops what he is doing and comes and finds it - no questions asked!
My hook may hate me, but my partner loves me!
(or he loves the peace and quiet of me crocheting & not the frustated sounds I make whilst I look for the hook!!)

Winter Woollies part 2

Ok, I don't normally invite strangers into my bedroom - but I just had to show you!
Yes, I have pulled all my handmade blankets out of storage because it's winter time here in Australia and being that I am here in Melbourne - it gets cold at night!

The top blanket is my own creation, granny square madness!
This is my second finished crochet blanket - round & round I went! This third is a crochet blanket my mum made & gave to her baby girl - me!

And yes, my bed is purple! My partner made it for us as an anniversary gift - my gift to him was a handknitted jumper. I knitted that jumper for about 5 years when I eventually admitted defeat & restitched it to become a blanket & gave it a charity!

Saturday Spending...

Saturday came around and it's a long weekend.... Yippee! So off we go on a car trip to Echuca via Bendigo. And of course, a stop at Bendigo means a trip to the Bendigo Woollen Mills!

Long story cut short..... after a spend of $130, I now have (hopefully) enough wool to make a new crochet blanket!
And no, I haven't finished the green/white crochet blanket yet!

Winter Woollies

Now that it is Winter, it's time to drag the blankets out of storage.
The first blanket I pull out is this, my very first Granny Square bla
nket. I started it many years ago (1980's) in High School and completed it about 14 years ago.I love pulling my blanket out of storage - it is stored in a carved camphor chest and it just smells divine! The blanket is starting to age, some of the ends are starting to fray and the colours are getting a little old & faded!
Does the green yarn that was used as the joining stitch look familiar? It's the yarn that I am using in my current crochet blanket!
