My Creative Space

It's all about piles this week, well, actually they are there every week, maybe I'm only just starting to see them!
This is a pile of postcards that I've been collecting for making into something, hmm, for actually making into something someday.  Next to the pile of postcards is a pile of paper ready for filing someday, under the filing is a pile of used train tickets - that one I don't know why it's there, I mean, what can I possibly be going to do with a pile of used train tickets?

I blame the pregnancy, I'm going to use it as an excuse whilst it's there to use!  I'm only 21weeks into the pregnancy and am fearing that the piles are going to get even worse!
I've even started to gather a pile of lists of things to do before the baby is born.... such lists contain things such as Buy: pram, cot, nappies, jumpsuits etc. Another list has all the things I need to make for the bub: crochet blanket, mobile, bunny rugs etc. Another list has all the things I need to do to get ready: de-clutter  bathroom, empty 'soon to be baby wardrobe', find somewhere for the cot etc. Another list has all the things that I need to do for Christmas (the baby is due 2 weeks before xmas): Santa stockings, make xmas cards, make xmas list etc etc.   AND then, there is the notion of I have absolutely no idea what to expect and to give up all the notion of lists and just wing it!

But then I remember that I am a Libra'n  living with another Libra'n and they are known for cluttered homes and then I relax!

Knobs.
It's all about door knobs this week.
Why?
Well, I have to do something that I spent too many years not wanting to do.
I have to darn socks. But not any old sock, only the hand knitted ones cos they're special! And just in case you hadn't didn't know, the knob is used to darn the sock with - it holds the hole in place whilst you darn away!
What are you up too this week & have you checked out My Creative Space yet?

Lucky me!

Hey, I actually won something! How cool is that!
I'd been so off lately with morning sickness, winning something actually put a smile back on my face!  The prize was won via the badskirt blog.
I won some fantastic fabric, ribbons & diamante.
But tell me, I've never used diamante before - how do I use them?

Plus one...

So, I have some news. Good news!
I'm plus one at the moment or should it be plus a-half or maybe even plus a-quarter?  Yep, I'm pregnant with my first child and the bub is due mid December.

I have completely lost interest in everything crafty at the moment, the only things I am interested in are sleeping, trying to eat and hold down my food! But I am getting better, slowly, thank goodness for white carbohydrates - it's the only thing keeping me going at the moment!

I am starting to plan things, craft wise of course.  I am thinking that I should make a real effort to finish the baby blanket I started crocheting over 10 months ago and then I could make a mobile using crocheted motifs to hang from it.  Booties and clothes also spring to mind, but the baby is due in Summer, right into the heat of summer, so it won't be needing booties or cute little hats - just plenty of aircon!

So, I need your help, nay, that is rude, I request your help! I need ideas, for example: what do I need, what can I make?  This is my first child and I've never been a clucky person, therefore I have absolutely no idea what I or the baby will need!
The only thing truly on my mind at the moment is the mobile - where can I get the mechanism that turns the mobile (without of course buying a brand new mobile and taking off the stuff already on there), is there a supplier that sells that kind of stuff?

Cake on a stick? Brilliant!!!!

This is the most brilliant idea ever.
I am going to have to make them, maybe for a special birthday?
I've made 'cake balls' before (with fruit cake, melted chocolate etc) but what this lass does with them is absolutely brilliant!  Chocolate Cake Balls
cake-pops

If you check out her website, she even makes them into Mr Potato Head!

Underground, overground....

Remember The Wombles?
It was my favourite tv show as a kid, so mum knitted us a womble each!
How cool is that! So that makes this Womble about 25 years old, so old that his stuffing is starting to come out of his pores (aka knitting stitches!).
Mum made us lots of toys, some are still around like Womble but many went to a second home when we out grew them.

Did you're mum make you toys..... or do you make your kids toys?
But more importantly, do you remember the tune???? "Underground, overground, we're wombling free..."

I love how the stamps look when they are drying, they look like they are ready to dance.
It has been over a week now, I guess perhaps I should start decorating the table instead of looking at drying stamps!  I was thinking a chaotic ramshackle style of placing them on the table - instead of a neat order but what I can't decide is should I perhaps give them a slight wash of paint to mute all the colours of them? What do you think?  Hmm, or maybe I'm getting ahead of myself perhaps I should be patient and see what happens?
