The Circle Cardi

When I came across the pattern for this sewn cardigan top, I knew I had to make it as it was so much like the ones that I keep buying from the shop...and it's turns out, that it is even more comfortable to wear!

It's totally hard to photograph as you can't see the shape of it when it's hung on a coat hanger and as it turns out, it's really hard to find a nice spot in my garden that isn't littered with kids toys, as it is I had to crop the sandpit from these photos!

Pattern is the Circle Cardi, the cardi goes from doll size, to kids to Ladies 5xl.

It really is super easy to make and if I had to give one tip for making it
... is that if you have access to somewhere that prints A0 documents/plans than save yourself some sanity & get them to print it for you!
As you can see in the photo (using my feet for scale), it is a BIG pattern piece (as it will make a big fabric circle) and I struggled to keep the kids away from it as I taped it all together!

Bunting - so easy to make!

A super quick project to lift my sewing spirits.
This easy sewing project used some of my vintage sheet fat quarters and scraps from my ribbon collection. I'm super chuffed with myself and totally glad I made it.
I'm thinking Joe & Laney need their own bunting now, don't you?!!

Knitted hearts.

Happy Valentines Day to you!   Here, lemme give you a heart ..ooh, I can't squeeze it thru the computer screen, so let me tell you about them instead!
Firstly, ain't they just adorable!   They take about 2-3 hours to knit, so I could make one each evening.
They also don't use much yarn, so I was using left over yarn from a project.

Wanna make a heart yourself? The first few rows are fiddly but then after that they knit up really well. Get the pattern here......

I used this soft squishy yarn....

Also, are you joining in the VALalong, perhaps you want to make yourself some hearts?!!

Making for me: #VALalong2018

Ahh, it's time to think about a Val, a Valentine-along where you make/do/buy something just.for.you.

This is the fifth year that I've been doing the Val and I enjoy it every time!   I started back here & have made over the years:
2014 - a knitted wrap & I now use it all the time, all year round!
2015 - a small shawl ...and to be honest, I still haven't used it yet.... oops!
2016  - my first bag and I use it all the freakin' time, I LOVE it!
2017 -  Double Zip Gear Bag and I use it every night as it holds my current crochet project
2018 -- hmm, what shall I make this year? I actually bought myself this online class & I can't wait to get started filling my shelves with all these (hopefully) gorgeous lovelies!

Why did I start the VAL?  Well, I often got frustrated that the day (Valentines Day) meant more to me than to my hubby, even after 21 years together! So I learnt not to depend on someone else for Valentines Day spoils, instead gave myself this one day a year to do something for me. Remember in life we often do things for other people or we have expectations for them that they might not adhere too, so here is a chance to be your own Valentine!

Will you join in and do a VAL for yourself too?

Yes??  Awesome!!
What are the rules? How do I join in?
Rules? There are no rules, well, not really mainly just suggestions
... you must make something for yourself (not for your Valentine but for you)...
... you must make something that you will love or something that you have coveted

... and you must start it on Valentines Day or at least do some of it on Valentines Day!

See, not many rules and heck, I don't care if you start this now ...just make something for yourself!

Do you like the knitted heart?
I knitted it from this pattern, using this soft squishy yarn.

Book & Tool Folio

Hot from the ironing board is my latest finish, the Book & Tool Folio.

I wanted something different for this project but couldn't decide upon a fabric, so I settled for lots of colour, lots of fabric!
I utilised scraps from my stash, even with the finishing binding that was left over from my very first sewn bag (this one).

The pattern was super easy, so easy in fact that I've already started a couple more of these for surprise gifts. The pattern was in this book (find it here in Aus) and I totally recommend it as the folio is already turning out to be super handy for storing all my templates from the pattern book!

The question is ... what shall I sew now and what else could I use this folio for cos I want to keep making them!?

Eco-dyed Tshirt

Eco Dyeing with CraftyRie:
a fun experiment to turn plain white fabric into something unique!
I'm feeling totally proud of this show & tell today, not only did I sew this tshirt but I also I dyed it with rose petals.   So here it is, my first attempt at Eco Dyeing!
