A Hobbit style Patchwork Robe

Picture shows a handmade patchwork robe

Oh yeah, look what I made!
Yes, it's a Hobbit inspired patchwork robe for my son Joe's birthday.

It was quite the journey making it. I ran out of fabric, I ran out of time. I also had problems with the pattern but in the end, a little miracle happened and then it was finished!

My son absolutely loves his robe, he looks super hobbit-ty in it!

If you'd like to see the epic, almost Hobbit style adventure that I took with this sewing project then click here.....

Stacks of business cards

Do you have stacks of business cards that you've collected over the years?
Yep? Hey, me too!
Especially since we just finished looking at houses, I have lots of real estate agents cards scattered everywhere.
So, I decided to cut them all up into hexagons...

Hexy love

So (or sew) I had made a Hexy Flower... but what do I do with it now??
I ask Mr... he just laughed.
Hmph, that didn't help.
Then I spotted a plain fabric bag.....
Hmm...
I'll let you know how it turns out!!

A little piecing....

Today finds me totally engrossed in something completely new.
... I'm paper piecing...
... and it's so much fun....
... and so incredibly easy...
... and so fast...
I love it!
I adore it!
Have you ever tried Paper Piecing?
What is it? Well, it's where you take a paper piece(!), in my case a hexagon, fold over the fabric, baste the fabric in place then join to another piece using a simple whip stitch. Once they are all joined, you take out the basting & the paper and you end up with a very cute hexagon flower (in my case). You can then make lots more and join them together to make a quilt or use it as an applique - which is what I'll think I'll do with mine.

Like it, well stay tuned as I'm going to have some sample kits to giveaway in about a month or so, then you can try it for yourself!!

Crazy patchwork

A long time ago, probably about 14 years ago, I started to use all my old scraps of material and make them into something useful.
Today, the project is still an ongoing one, I still use
the scraps of material and sew them hap-hazardly together (hand sewn of course!) to eventually make a quilt for the bed.
The patchwork has scraps of material from various handsewn projects over the years - ranging from my old school uniform, dresses, pillowcases and boxer short scraps!

My favourite time to sit down and do the patchwork is on short holidays. You know the type, the long weekends away where your Partner goes off golfing or fishing an
d you spend a well earned break with your feet up normally with a good book or a relaxing massage - well I choose to sit my feet up and add to the patchwork!
