A Hedgie for Joe

Super cute felt hedgehog with beanie made by CraftyRie.
I made the cutest toy for Joe's birthday. He absolutely loved it and has named him Hedgie.

He fits into the palm of your hand and is really soft & snuggly.

The pattern is from this book and it was really easy to make. The only trouble was sourcing the hedgehog fur and I have enough left over for one more hedgie so if you want it - let me know & we can do a trade!
I originally bought the pattern book direct from the designer (here) but it doesn't appear to be for sale there any more so you can get the book on Amazon USA here or Fishpond Australia here.

The yellow cradle was actually supposed to be a sledge but that's not something that we have/use/see here, so I turned it into a cute little cradle instead.

The knitted beanie and blanket give it extra cuteness.

Pin cushion for Joe

A cute zippered pin cushion made from scrap fabric made by CraftyRie.
I just finished sewing this cute little pincushion. I made it for Joe for his upcoming 9th birthday this weekend.

The fabric is all scrappy fabric from my stash, the zip, well, I think I used the wrong size but it still worked out ok.

It didn't take very long to make, I finished it in a couple of days but I was doing a bit here & there but if you just sat down to make it, you could definitely whip this up in just one day.

The cute little birdie thingy inside the pouch is actually a needle threader & thread cutter. You lift the beak up to thread the needle and the cutter is just there on it's back.

The pattern is this one. It's a fun, easy to make gift idea and is perfect for scraps.
I'll be making one or two for myself as I think they'll be handy for knitting/crochet stitch markers.

I've also bought myself a second pattern from the designer, this one as I thought I could make ones for the kids next year for their new school year/classes.
I really hope Joe loves it, if not, I'll happily steal it off of him!

Rip it, rip it real good wall hanging

A fun wall hanging by CraftyRie but should it be turned into a clock?
My newest finish is this super cute wall hanging and seeing as how I often use my seam ripper more than I use my actual sewing machine, I feel it's very apt!

Pattern is this one.
Yes, it was fun & easy to make!  You've got to make it for yourself or for as a gift.

I had fun doing crappy stitches for the bit that needed ripping, it felt so good to actually be able to stuff up!  ...this wasn't actually part of the patter, I just felt that it fitted well with the them.

I used 99.9% Tula Pink fabric, the only bit I didn't was the binding - that was just something that I found in my stash that suited the colours. Yes, even the backing fabric is a Tula Pink solid!

I have one major question with it, should I turn it into a clock?  That would mean I would need to actually poke a hole right in the middle of the wall hanging so I could attach the clock fittings. I just can't decide if a) it would look good as a clock and b) if I really want to put a hole in the center of all that hard work.
Tell me in the comments below what you think I should do with it - clock it or leave it?

My next project is to make some of these fabric baskets and to also make some notebook covers for the kids for Christmas.

Howl

What to you get when you knit a cowl into a hat? A Howl! Knitted by CraftyRie. Yarn is Yarnotion.
It's summer here in Australia but this is me today: I'm wearing my thick raincoat & beanie. Brr, it's super cold, we've had the heater on every day!

So I thought it was time that I showed you the hat/cowl combo that I made. I actually finished knitting this last year but didn't have a chance to wear it. This winter, I wore it a lot and I really like the floppy hat and the cowl that I can keep loose or wind around me on those bitter cold days.

Pattern is this one, it was easy to follow and I ended up adding a extra width to my cowl.
Yarn was dyed by me and I dyed lots, so I'll probably end up stocking it in my Etsy store soon.
