Hootiful Owl Bag

Ain't this owl bag just the cutest thing ever?!!

I made it for Joe for his birthday ...yeah, he turns 9 in December but I'm actually (for once) trying to plan ahead! I just now he'll adore it!
I put belt tabs on the back of the bag instead of a handle/strap as I thought he'd like to attach it to his belt rather than wear it crossbody.

Pattern is the Hootiful Owl Bag by Sew Quirky. It was such an easy bag to sew, I made it in two days and that's in between housework, mum duties, school duties and of course sleep!
I used Cork fabric for the body, I'd never used it before and it was gorgeous to run thru my machine! I also raided my felt stash and found plenty of glitter felt to use, it was the perfect scrap buster for those smaller pieces of felt.

Brooklyn Joggers

Ooh, these new bottoms that I just made myself are so comfy!

I'm definitely going to be making myself more of these, maybe in grey, black and possibly adding some contrast colours in to mix things up a bit.

The pockets are perfect!  Perfectly positioned, perfectly sized!

These super comfy joggers are made from THIS pattern. They are really easy to make and they also come in kids sizes too, in case you want your kids to be as comfy as you!

Unicorn pillow cushion

A very quick sew, a perfect stash buster and of course, the best gift ever!

I made this Unicorn Pillow/Cushion from a FREE pattern with fabric from my stash. It was so easy, that it's done in a hour or so. If you wanted to make a few at once, it'd be really easy too and I kinda cheated and cut the eyes from felt & glued them in place - so no stitching means quicker project!

I used glitter felt for the horn, turns out I had a few sheets in my stash!

Prof. Joe aka I've just sewn a Lab Coat!

Hot off my sewing machine this week is a coat for Joe.

Technically, it's supposed to be a 'dress-ups' Lab coat but I thought he'd really like the coat in colour so he can use it when he's outside gardening & helping Dad.

I think he looks super cute in it, he even found some fake glasses to make him look more professor-like!

The fabric is just perfect for it, it gets cold here so the thicker Drill fabric adds the right amount of warmth without being too bulky,

This is a fun pattern to make, you can get it here ..and even better, it's a Freebie!

And now to make things even, I've got to go make Laney a quick rainbow skirt!

A Mothy Retreat Bag

I do believe, that this bag is one of the best ones that I've made!

One of my recent makes is this: The Retreat Bag by Emmaline. It's a free pattern (over here) and you just need some bag frames which you can get them direct from Emmaline. I if you live in Australia like I do, then you get them from here as well.

The bag is perfect for a project bag because it opens up super wide - love it!

 

This is the large size and ohmygosh, it makes the perfect knitting/crochet bag!  I actually made this bag for a friend, we did a crafty swap!  

The the awesome fabric (which is what my friend fell in love with) is from this designer and I grabbed the perfect handbag zipper from here as well as the fusible fleece.

Join me in a Val-along

Ahh, it's the season of love. Valentines Day is once again upon us but hey, why let other dictate what you can or can't do, why relay on others for your happiness?
Take control and love yourself this Valentines Day and do something or make something or buy something just for you. Come and join me for my sixth Valalong #2019VALalong.

This year, I've decided to clear out some of my clutter and destash my WIPs (unfinished works in progress) - you know the ones in the back of the cupboard, the ones that I set aside but never picked up again.

It's freeing, giving myself permission to acknowledge that they won't be finished or that I just don't like them anymore. Can I change them into something else? Can I use the yarn/fabric for a different more satisfying project? I can just sit there and darn in a few ends and voila, a finished project?

The Kitty blouse

Yes, here I am in a blouse with cats on it and I look happy about it too but why? Well, I made it!

OHMYGOSH, I actually sewed myself a proper blouse with plackets, French seams and an FBA using cute kitty cat fabric!

I used the Madison Blouse sewing pattern and yes, you can sew yourself one even if you've never done anything like this before because ...I did!!! (& I've done anything like this before either!)

I used KAM Snaps instead of buttons because my automatic button-holer on my sewing machine busted years ago.    I also had my handy Kam Snap remover tool sitting next to me whilst I added the snaps but hey, for once, I didn't actually need it!

I plan on making myself some more as it's a super comfy fit thanks to the FBA that I did (and I learnt how to do one from here).

So, what do you think? Does it look ok? Does the cat fabric look ok on me/with that blouse style?  What material design should I go for next?
Here's some fabric ideas that I'm considering: these lemons, this plaid or yoga loving bulldog fabric! Gah, nope I just saw this Born To Knit fabric -brilliant!

Stay tuned for more blouses AND I thought this next blouse, I'd kinda do a photo tutorial maybe a YouTube video, showing you the steps etc because it's rather easy if you just take it one step at a time.
