It just aint right

Nah, there is something wrong with this pattern, it's just not right.  I've done something wrong. After several days of debating this with myself (& sometimes with a two year old boy), I've decided that I read the pattern wrong but HEY, it's not my fault, the pattern doesn't read smoothly!
You see, one of the problems with getting patterns off Ravelry is that that normally aren't written by professionals and have unclear instructions in them. Where I went wrong in this pattern is that I turned the project & knitted back down as that is what made sense in the way the pattern was written, in fact, if they had taken their time to write DO NOT TURN - that would have saved me heaps of stress & time!

Do you find this too, that sometimes the patterns from Ravelry are always that clear or is that my muddled head?

  1. I don't get patterns off of ravelry unless they are the older patterns out of older publications..I have found that many patterns on that site have problems. I test patterns for professional designers and can usually figure it out..but I am not wanting to "work" when I want to relax. Blessings

  2. I started out knitting, and have since taught myself how to crochet. I haven't had any problems with knitting patters, but I have found some really confusing crochet patterns. I don't know if it is because I am new to it, or the patterns just were not all that clear! But you are definetly not alone!

  4. They forget that there are new knitters out there too that are trying these out. I had a similar problem with a dress I am trying to knit. You start knitting it flat and then you join to knit in the round.... I guess I should have known to turn the project when you join it but I didn't. I got three or rows in before I realized my mistake and had to knit it back to correct it. I know three or four rows isnt much but it is to a beginner!

  5. We know exactly what you mean! There are so many patterns available that are make a simple step sound like a foreign language. We've felt this same frustration! When we actually figure out what they meant, we find ourselves saying, "that's it?!!!". In other words, it took all those words and confusion to simply refer to this simple stitch!

Your work is beautiful though. Keep working!! We love the blog!!!!
