My Creative Space

It's about baby booties today. I have to confess, I didn't make them though, they were gifted to me by a sister in law. Aren't they just cute!

I'm not a knitter, if I had chosen to knit some booties for my bub to be, well, let's just say that they'll won't even get finished in time for my bub's bub!
BUT maybe, you've seen somewhere out there an easy crochet version of baby booties or even a crochet baby beanie? If you have, can you let me know, I'd love to give it a try. Also, if you have any ideas for what I could as the baby will be born into the heat of summer and I can only think of wintery things to make.

Have you joined in with Kootoyoo's Creative Space yet?

  3. Sooo cute!! There must be a crochet version of baby booties somewhere... do the google-thing Rie ;) I had both my girls in London during winter months so I'm hopeless on the summer front I'm afraid... Applique crochet shapes to a Bonds singlet maybe?? Have fun! Kx

  4. naw, how sweet! I am with you when it comes to booties, all the pattens are too complex! crochet or knit!! Ktogs and psso's and front and back yadda yadda. How can something so little be so hard!!!

hhmm summer babies - light muslin wraps? embelished singlet tanks perhaps? I've got a soaker fettish happening myself at the moment ;)

  6. So sweet - stop it...my littlest is 16 months so I am so not allowed to get clucky again so soon!! One of mine was born in a very hot feb and spent quite some time in just nappies and singlets...so maybe you could crochet some pilchers? :-) xxx

  7. You always need a little cardie for newborns, for those chilly evenings. You could crochet in cotton - there are some lovely soft versions out there in bamboo too. I think RetroMummy has a crochet hat pattern on her blog that you might be able to modify to fit a newborn. I think cardi's would get more wear for a summer baby.

  8. I was just going to say the same as Dolores, I am sure I have seen crochet kids/babies hats on Retromummy, or, she would know where to go as she has a newborn baby herself.

  12. I make baby hats with a knitting loom. I just prefer it and usually will sew on a crocheted heart applique on it, too.

  14. They are so little & so cute. I like Kylie's suggestion of crochet appliques on singlets. Even in summer, bubs will still need a light blanket for some nights. A cotton crocheted blanket would be sweet.

    It mustn't be long now????

  15. You can always crochet something for the winter months - I had a Jan Bub and wish that I had have thought more about the upcoming winter months - as you dont have much time to create with a bub (well you do - but you will be cleaning, washing and sleeping when you would rather be creating)

    Are you on Ravelry?

Maybe you could make something out of cotton.
    These are cute:

Crochet Soakers will be good if you are planning on cloth napping,

    This hat is cute too

  16. Definately lots of lovely ideas there and I second the notion of crocheting with cotton - even a light blankie or something for when you go to a shopping centre - in the height of summer it's always freezing in those places!
