Success ..in a way!

I did it, I did it & did a little dance!
So? I hear you ask, you made something - big whoopee for you.

Yep, big whoopee, happy whoopee and do a dance whoopee... you see, I saw, I made but with no pattern just an idea and .....it worked!
After my much sewey success of my very first zip pouch, I then went on to make (what felt like a hundred pouches) as gifts for Christmas. I experimented.
I hunted for new patterns.
I bought lots of zips (btw, this is an awesome shop!)
I bought lots of fabric.
I searched once again for more patterns but the choices were so great that I couldn't decide!
I could have easily just shut my eyes, clicked a pattern, bought it, sewed it and moved on but where is the challenge in that?
Instead I made a big list of lots of things I want to make but couldn't decide on what to do first. I then saw two patterns (this one & this one), they are similar but still different and in my eyes...expensive. Yes, I could have bought them but hey, I'm a stay-at-home-mum with NO income for myself so in reality, eighteen Australian dollars is 15 loaves of bread ...hmm.
I looked at lots of pictures of peoples finished bags and thought well, I'm going to give it a go with NO pattern. The worst thing that could happen is that I fail, the best thing that could happen is that I succeed, so why not give it a go?

So I found decent size fabric scraps and away I went... I fiddled. I sewed. I unpicked. I fiddled. I sewed. I unpicked. I put it away. I got it out again. I fiddled. I sewed. I unpicked. I fiddled. I sewed. I sighed. I put it away. I got it out. I unpicked. I cut it straighter. I sewed. I fiddled. I sewed. I unpicked. I fiddled. I swore. I fiddled. I sewed and eventually I got it. So then I did a dance.
I'm happy now.
Yes, it has lots of mistakes and nope, I'm not going to point them out to you! I'm happy with my 'experiment' and plan to make another using this one as a guide but for now, I need to make my lil girl an outfit using an actual pattern!
